Abraham was 75 when God told him that his descendants would own the land where he lived. I think we can assume that Abraham expected God to act fast. It wasn’t just that his body was ageing. Sarah was getting on a bit too!
However, the father of faith and his wife had to wait 25 years for their prophecy to be fulfilled. I wonder how many times Sarah cried out to God. Most women have a strong yearning to use their baby-making machines.
The unfulfilled longing for a little one can be heartbreaking. For ladies in biblical times, they had the added pain of assuming that barrenness was the consequence of wickedness. People may have mocked and judged her.
The Pain Of Delay
It must have been hard for Abraham to see Sarah suffer. He had his own issues to contend with too. As months turned into years and years merged into decades, he probably wondered if he had really heard God.
Perhaps doubt tried to creep in and tell him that he was deluded about having a family. 25 years is a long time to wait. I would not be surprised if his friends thought he was crazy. After all, nothing like this had happened before.

Time
I believe that time is a test that we all have to take. So often our human instinct is to say: ‘This is ridiculous. I’ve been waiting for far too long. I’m going to forget about the whole thing.’ However, we need to keep believing even when it hurts.
The same God who came through for Abraham will come through for you if you keep on believing His word to you. Abraham & Sarah endured and against all odds, Sarah gave birth to a baby boy. Abraham became a dad at last!
Precious Presents
There are many examples of miracle babies born after decades of delay. Isaac endured 20 years before his wife Rebekah conceived twins! Doctors thought Elizabeth would never have children, but she got pregnant when she was old and gave birth to John the Baptist.
Hannah cried out for what must have seemed like a lifetime before Samuel – one of the greatest prophets that walked the earth – arrived. She went through years of disappointment and ridicule while she waited for the Lord to give her a baby.

El dolor del retraso
Debió ser muy difícil para Abraham ver a Sara sufrir. Y él también estaba batallando con sus asuntos personales. Mientras que los días se tornaron en meses, los meses en años, los años en décadas, él tuvo que pensar si había escuchado a Dios de verdad.
La duda probablemente empezó a moverse que era una locura querer tener familia después de tantos años. 25 años es un tiempo muy largo en espera. No me sorprendería si sus amigos pensaron que él estaba loco. Después de todo nada como esto había tomado lugar antes.
Aunque es un hombre le animaba a creer, estoy segura que más de una vez se sentía como un tonto. Abraham (que no tuvo hijos por mucho tiempo) tenía por nombre, padre de multitud!
Tiempo exacto
Creo que tiempo es una prueba que todos tenemos que pasar. Muchas veces nuestro instinto humano dice: “Esto es ridículo. He estado esperando por mucho tiempo. Esto ya no va a tomar lugar.” Pero tenemos que seguir creyendo a pesar del dolor.
El mismo Dios que le respondió habrán te va a responder a ti si sigues creyendo en su palabra. Abraham y Sara soportaron la prueba y a pesar de todos los puntos en contra ella dio a luz a un bebé. Abraham finalmente se convirtió en padre!
Una vez y otra vez
Hay muchos ejemplos de niños que nacieron después de una promesa décadas después. Isaac espero 20 años hasta que su esposa Rebeca quedó embarazada de gemelos! Los médicos pensaron que Elizabeth nunca iba tener un hijo, Se embarazó siendo ya anciana y dio a luz a Juan el Bautista.
Ana clamo por lo que se debió sentir como toda una vida antes de qué llegara Samuel-el Profeta más grande de la historia. Ella pasó mucho tiempo en la espera y hasta se burlaron de ella hasta que pudo recibir a su bebé.
Dios tenía un plan fenomenal. Ana tendría un hijo qué haría estremecer todas las naciones. Pero el señor tenía que moldear a Ana para que pudiera a cargar un bebé que cambiaría el destino profético de tantos.
El propósito de la espera
Dios permitió los años de atraso para perfeccionar su obra en ella. Cuándo le prometieron el bebé soñado, Dios sabía que ella estaba lista. El proceso produjo a una persona que podía poseer un propósito grandísimo.
Si has estado esperando por mucho tiempo por la manifestación de una promesa, quizá Dios te está transformando para que puedas poseer y dar a luz grandes bendiciones. Muy a menudo los grandes regalos de Dios toman tiempo.
