In my late twenties, I worked for a top Public Relations firm and had to attend a meeting with a CEO of a fast growing company. As I sat in his office offering communications advice, I felt like a fraud.
How could someone small like me offer a successful man anything? It didn’t matter that my boss believed in me because I didn’t believe in myself. I didn’t make much progress in that season.
The same was true with church. I felt inadequate and I was a bit embarrassed about leading. I worried that people wouldn’t want to be pastored by me. I could cope with guiding women of a similar age to myself. Anyone else? They were out of my zone so I fumbled my way through.
From The Inside Out
When we feel small on the inside, we come across as small to others. When we believe that we will bungle everything up, we falter all too easily.
Proverbs 23:7 says that as a man thinks in his heart, so is the man. Whether we realize it or not, we all have inner pictures. A view of who we really are, irrespective of what others see.
The problem is that God has a plan for each one of us. We need to be sure of who we are so that we can fulfill our true potential.
God had to heal my heart of every hurt that made me believe that I was not able. He had to change my inner picture so that I could rise up and fulfill my purpose.
Many people struggle year in, year out to lose weight. But if you think of yourself as big, then however hard you try, you will probably end up reflecting the image in the mirror of your heart. This principle affects every area of our lives.
What Do You See?
You can pray for promotion or for increase, but if you don’t think you deserve breakthrough, your inner picture could keep you hemmed in.
Until you can easily imagine yourself thriving in that new job or leading that amazing ministry, you may well continue waiting. But when you are healed enough to know deep down that you deserve an abundant life, you will set yourself up to inherit God’s best.
What are the promises that God has given to you? What are the goals that you long to achieve? Look inside and ask yourself whether your inner picture is of someone able, strong and ready. If it’s not, it’s time to ask God to do another work within.

De Adentro Hacia Afuera
Cuando nos sentimos pequeños por dentro, los demás nos ven como pequeños. Cuando creemos que vamos a echar todo a perder, flaqueamos con demasiada facilidad.
Proverbios 23:7 dice que como un hombre piensa en su corazón, tal es el hombre. Ya sea que nos demos cuenta o no, todos tenemos una imagen interior. Una visión de quiénes somos realmente, independientemente de lo que los demás vean.
El problema es que Dios tiene un plan para cada uno de nosotros. Necesitamos estar seguros de quiénes somos para que podamos desarrollar nuestro verdadero potencial.
Dios tuvo que sanar mi corazón de cada herida que me hacía creer que no era capaz. Tuvo que cambiar mi imagen interior para que pudiera levantarme y cumplir mi propósito.
Muchas personas luchan año tras año para perder peso. Pero si te consideras grande, por mucho que lo intentes, probablemente terminarás reflejando la imagen en el espejo de tu corazón. Este principio afecta cada área de nuestra vida.
¿Qué Ves?
Puedes orar por un ascenso o un aumento, pero si no crees que mereces un gran avance, tu imagen interior podría mantenerte acorralado.
Hasta que puedas imaginarte prosperando en ese nuevo trabajo o liderando ese ministerio asombroso, es posible que sigas esperando. Pero cuando estés lo suficientemente sano como para saber en el fondo que mereces una vida abundante, estarás preparado para heredar lo mejor de Dios.
¿Cuáles son las promesas que Dios te ha dado? ¿Cuáles son las metas que anhelas alcanzar? Mira hacia dentro y pregúntate si tu imagen interior es la de alguien capaz, fuerte y listo. Si no es así, es hora de pedirle a Dios que haga otra obra en tu interior.
