What To Do If You Compare Yourself | Qué hacer si te comparas con otros

“I’ll never be as good as her”, “Why can’t I be like them?”, “I feel like a failure compared to him.” Do you ever think like this? Do you look at the achievements of others and feel like you’re not enough?

Comparison feeds insecurity, doubt and even self-hatred. That’s why the devil works overtime to get you comparing yourself with others. He wants you to feel small, he wants you to doubt your ability. 

Proverbs 23:7 says, “…as a man thinks in his heart, so is he…” That means that if you believe that you’re a failure, it will limit your ability to succeed. If you think that everyone else is better than you, you will hold yourself back. 

A Problem With Social Media

Social media can make it tough. Five minutes of browsing can make you feel like everyone is achieving all their dreams. It can make you feel like you’re miles behind and incapable. That’s exactly how the enemy plans it.

You must remember that most people don’t share their darkest days or painful failures on social media! Sometimes people try to cheer themselves up by sharing a highlight. It’s the devil who makes you believe everyone is better.

But 2 Corinthians 10:12 is clear: “For we dare not… compare ourselves… But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” Put simply, this says that comparison is harmful.

And It’s Pointless 

You are unique. You were individually designed by the Master Potter and then He threw away the blueprint. No-one else thinks like you, no one else feels what you do. You are one of a kind. 

You are also made in the image of God which means that you reflect a unique aspect of the Lord. Only you can show that particular part of our awesome God to the world. How incredible is that?

There are no two people who are identical. Of the billions of men and women who have ever lived, no two individuals have ever had the same fingerprints. There are no duplicates and there never will be. So comparison is futile!

The Object Of Your Attention

Comparison takes your eyes off God, it removes your focus from your Way Maker, and it puts your attention on someone who is different to you. If you suffer from any insecurity, then all the devil needs to do to get you down is show you someone else’s success. 

The father of lies will try to convince you that the person you are looking at is smarter, stronger, and more successful than you will ever be. But you can stop satan by taking your eyes off others and turning your attention to the Lord. 

Refocus 

Focus on His promises to you. Instead of feeling like a failure, you will feed your faith! Take a moment right now to ask the Lord to forgive you for making comparisons. Ask for the Holy Spirit’s help to break this destructive habit. 

Next time you find yourself making a comparison, stop. Instead, thank God for the plans that He has for you, to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you a hope and a bright future (Jer 29:12). Pray for God’s wonderful will to be done.

Las comparaciones alimentan la inseguridad, duda y odio personal. Por eso es que el enemigo trabaja sobre tiempo para que te compares con otros. Quieres que te compares con otros y te sientas pequeño, él quiere que dudes de tu habilidad.

Proverbios 23:7 dice, “… Como el hombre piensa de su mismo en su corazón, así es él…“ Eso significa que si piensas que eres un fracaso, va a limitar tu habilidad de éxito. Si piensas que todo mundo es mejor que tú, esto te hará retenerte.

El problema con las redes sociales

Cinco minutos mirando a los demás te puede hacer sentir de qué todos alcanzan éxito. Puede hacerte sentir de qué estás a kilómetros de distancia atrasado e incapaz. Y eso es el plan exacto del enemigo para ti.

Debes de recordar que la gente no comparte sus momentos oscuros o dolorosos o de perdida en las redes sociales! Muchas veces la gente trata de animarse asimismo al compartir sus momentos de victoria. El enemigo quiere que pienses y creas que todos son mejor que tú.

Pero dos Corintios 10:12 es claro: “porque no nos atrevemos… a compararnos… pero ellos, mi viéndose consigo mismo, y comparándose con los demás, no son sabios.“ Simplemente, esto nos dice que el compararnos es peligroso.

No tiene punto

Eres único. Fuiste diseñado individualmente por el maestro alfarero y el borró el plano. Nadie más piensa como tú, nadie más siente lo que tú sientes. Eres único en tu clase.

Creado a la imagen de Dios lo que significa que reflejas un aspecto único del señor. Sólo tú puedes manifestar esa área particular y maravillosa de Dios para el mundo. Qué tan increíble es esto?

No hay dos personas idénticas. En 1 billón de hombres y mujeres que han vivido, no hay dos individuos que tengan la misma huella digital. No hay dos duplicados y nunca los habrá. Así que la comparación es fútil!

El objeto de tu atención

Las comparaciones quitan la mirada de Dios, remueve el enfoque del todo creador, y pone la atención en alguien que es diferente a quien yo soy. Oído de una inseguridad, entonces el enemigo necesita bajarte y mostrarte el éxito de alguien más.

El padre de mentiras va a tratar de convencerte que la persona que tú estás buscando ser es más inteligente, más fuerte, con mucho más éxito de lo que tú jamás alcanzarás. Pero usted puede parar a Satanás al quitar su mirada de los demás y poner toda su atención en el señor.

Reenfoca tu atención

Enfócate en sus promesas y no en ti. En lugar de sentirte como un fracaso, alimenta tu fe! Toma un momento ahora mismo y pídele al señor que te perdone por compararte. Pídele al espíritu Santo que te ayude a romper de este hábito destructivo.

La próxima vez que te veas a ti mismo comparándote, detente. En lugar de esto, agradecerle a Dios por los planes que él ha hecho para ti, planes de prosperarte y no dañarte, de darte esperanza y un futuro brillante (Jeremías 29:12). Ora al señor por su maravillosa perfecta voluntad hecha en ti.

Esto, el diablo tendrá que parar de tentarte con comparaciones acerca de ti, porque estás siendo guiado hacia oraciones fructuosas! Te invito a que te unas en un reto de cinco días: puertas hacia tu destino. Dios hará más de lo que te puedes imaginar.
