How To Break Free From Insecurity | CÓMO LIBERARTE DE LA INSEGURIDAD

By 16th November 2024 Uncategorised

I was riddled with insecurities for much of my life. At work, if my boss asked to see me, I’d worry that I’d done something wrong. At church, I constantly compared myself with others who I thought were more spiritual or successful.

At home, if my husband was abrupt, I’d think that he didn’t love me. After social gatherings, I’d worry that I’d said the wrong thing and go home beating myself up for not keeping my mouth shut. All this went on without me really being aware of my issues.

When I met new people, I felt I had to prove my worth by sharing some achievement or pretending to be someone I wasn’t. When I stepped out into something new, I needed to hear people’s approval. Without validation, I didn’t feel good enough.

1. Spot The Symptoms

Insecurity is awful and it is exhausting so we usually seek reassurance to make the uncertainty go away. We end up developing habits to satisfy our need for reassurance. If you’re feeling small, you may seek a compliment or try to impress someone.

The call from within is, “Recognise my talent, or, tell me that I’m enough.” After someone has said that you did a good job, all is well. That is, until the feelings of inadequacy build again and you seek reassurance once more.

But just as a rash is a symptom of an allergy or sickness, insecurity is a symptom that you have unhealed hurts. Until you ask the Lord to deal with the underlying issues in your heart, you will battle with insecurity.

2. Deal With The Issues

Maybe rejection you suffered years ago has made you feel that you’re not good enough. Perhaps being raised by parents who only affirmed you when you succeeded has made you believe you need to achieve in order to earn love.

Perhaps put downs by teachers or friends made you feel inferior. It could be that a trauma you suffered in childhood or adult life crushed your confidence. Insecurity is just a symptom that you have pain pain inside.

As the Lord healed my heart of buried childhood hurts, one by one my insecurities dropped off. The more I was restored, the easier I found it to believe God’s word that I really was ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’. Getting healed creates security. It makes life better.

You Can Be Free

If you struggle with any insecurity, ask the Lord to shine His light into your heart and reveal buried pain. When He shows you hidden hurts, talk to Him about your pain and ask Him to heal your heart. It’s a journey, so any time you see an insecurity, ask God to heal the root.

If you can relate to any of this and want to get insecurity out of your life, I invite you to join our 5 week zoom course Overcoming Insecurity. God will do a deep work in your heart and life. It’s not to late to join! I am excited for your journey to security.
