CHAOS

Have you ever felt like your life is in chaos? Maybe unexpected challenges are coming at you from every direction. Perhaps you are confused about which way to go. You may be feeling empty. It could be that everything around you is in ruin. 

From the beginning of time, God has been in the business of bringing order where there was chaos. He brings clarity where there is confusion. 

“The earth was without form and void and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said…” Genesis 1:2-3

Hovering

The word for without form is tohu which means desolate, empty and confused. The word for void  is bohu which means an indistinguishable ruin. 

Isn’t it amazing that when the earth was in a similar situation, the Holy Spirit was hovering? Even when it feels as though everything is out of control, I want to reassure you that the Spirit of God is at your side.

When the earth was desolate, the Holy Spirit was hovering and waiting. He was waiting for the Word. When the Word was spoken, the Spirit sprang into action and light flooded into the darkness. 

He understands 

Jesus understands the battles you are facing and He knows how it feels: “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for He faced all of the same testings we do…” (Hebrews 4:15 NLT). 

Jesus went through terrible trials. He was pushed to the limits. One of His greatest battles was when He was in the wilderness. The devil knew how vulnerable He was after 40 days without food or water and threw everything at Him.

What did Jesus do? He did the same as at the start of time. He spoke the Word. When the enemy questioned His identity: “If You are the Son of God, throw yourself down…”, Jesus responded with: “It is written…” (Matthew 4:6-7)

Out the other side 

The Son of God conquered these trials by speaking the word and He came out the other side stronger than ever. Luke 4:14 describes how He left the wilderness: “Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit…” 

I don’t know what challenges you are facing or what may be causing you to be confused. First of all, remember that the Holy Spirit is hovering all around you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Give every worry to Him knowing that He is in control. 

Speak

Secondly, I want to encourage you to do what Jesus did. Speak the Word to your circumstances. Insist on order where there is chaos. Command clarity into any confusion. 

Declare the Word in prayer: “Let Your kingdom come right now, righteousness, joy and peace will reign in my life.” Then continue, “Let Your will be done in Jesus’ name. I command every area of my life to line up with Your will, in Jesus’ name, amen.” 

Inner order

As you cast your cares and pray in faith, inner order will be restored. It does not necessarily mean that your circumstances will change straight away. However, you will be at peace and able to stand strong.
