“If I have ever hurt you, would you mind standing?” This was probably the hardest altar call that I have ever given. I trembled while I waited to see how many woman at our church ladies conference would get up on their feet. I was hugely relieved that it was not the majority!
“Would you mind coming to the front?” I asked as about a dozen women walked to the altar. Following the leading of the Holy Spirit, I knelt in front of each lady. I told each one that I was sorry for the pain that I had caused and asked the Lord to heal their hearts.
Church Hurts
The devil works overtime to hurt believers in church. Perhaps you have been wounded by words or actions of your pastor. Maybe you have felt let down by a leader. It could be that you have had a disagreement with a brother or sister.
Because God intended church to be a family where you will learn and grow, the enemy does anything he can to make it feel like an unsafe place. The devil wants you to be disconnected and isolated. Satan wants to stunt your growth and stifle your joy.
If you have been hurt in church, the Lord wants to heal your heart. Would you allow me the honor of leading you through some steps that will bring restoration to your soul. Once your heart is healed, you will find it easier to hear the leading of the Lord.
1. Tell the Truth
God desires truth in the inward parts (Psalm 51:6). Take some time to talk to the Lord about the words or behaviors that wounded you. Tell Him what happened and how it made you feel. Pour out your heart like water before the face of the Lord (Lamentations 2:19)
2. Let Go
When we hold onto our hurts, they follow us everywhere we go. Make a decision from your heart to forgive the person or people who have hurt you. Be specific in prayer as you forgive them for what they did. After you have released forgiveness, as God to bless them.
3. Follow God
Romans 8 says that the sons of God are led by the Spirit of God. After you have been healed and have released forgiveness, ask the Lord to show you where He wants you to worship. If you know that you’re in the center of God’s will for your life, please stay put.
Remember, the ark in Noah’s day is an Old Testament type of the church. The ark will have been uncomfortable but it was the safest place on earth. Ask the Lord to confirm His will by giving you a verse from the Bible. Commit to serve where God has called you.
I didn’t know that I had caused pain to any of our ladies until the Holy Spirit showed me but I am so glad that they received healing. As imperfect human beings, we all hurt each other from time to time. So please be quick to seek your healing so that you can live your life to the full.

“si te hice daño, por favor ponte de pie?“ Esto fue probablemente el llamado al altar más difícil que jamás he hecho. Yo temblaba mientras esperaba cuántas mujeres de nuestra iglesia en nuestra conferencia se pondrían de pie. Fue un alivio gigante cuando no fue la mayoría!
“Te importa venir hacia el frente?“ Yo pregunté cuando eran una docena de mujeres que caminaron hacia el altar. Siguiendo el liderazgo del Espíritu Santo, me arrodillé delante de cada una de ellas, les dije que sentía mal por el dolor que yo les había causado y les pregunte delante del señor que Dios sanara sus corazones.
La iglesia se duele
El diablo trabaja sobre tiempo para herir a los creyentes en la iglesia. Quizás ha sido herido por las palabras o acciones de tu pastor. Quizás ha sentido que tu líder no ha hecho lo mejor para ti. O haz tenido un desacuerdo con un hermano o hermana.
Porque Dios intensiono que la iglesia fuera una familia donde aprendemos y crecemos, el enemigo hace todo lo posible para hacernos sentir inseguros en este lugar. El diablo quiere que te desconectes y te aísles. Satanás quiere que te detengas en tu crecimiento y que se paraliza tu voz.
Si tú has sido herido en la iglesia, el señor quiere sanar tu corazón. Me permites el honor de guiarte a través de unos cuantos pasos para atraer restauración a tu alma. Una vez que tu corazón está sano. Te vas a encontrar que es más fácil escuchar la guíanza del señor.
- Di la verdad
Dios desea la verdad en el interior (salmo 51:6). Toma tiempo para hablar con el señor acerca de las palabras o comportamientos que te hirieron. Dile lo que pasó y como te hizo sentir. Vierte tu corazón como agua delante del rostro del señor (lamentaciones 2:19)
- Suelta
Cuándo retenemos en nuestro corazón el dolor, nos sigue a donde quiera que vamos. Toma la decisión en tu corazón de perdonar a la persona o la gente que te hirieron. Se específico en la oración mientras perdonas lo que te hicieron. Después desata el perdón, y bendice en Dios.
- Sigue a Dios
Romanos 8 dice que los hijos de Dios son guiados por el espíritu de Dios. Después que ha sido sanado y desatado el perdón, pídele al señor que te muestre como quiere qué lo adoren. Si sabes que estás en el centro de la voluntad de Dios para tu vida, mantente.
Recuerda, el arca de Noé en esos tiempos del antiguo testamento qué tipo de iglesia era. El arca debió ser incómoda pero al mismo tiempo lugar más seguro. Pídele al señor que te confirme a través de un verso bíblico de la biblia. Comprométete a servir donde Dios te ha llamado.
Yo no sabía que yo le había causado dolor a esas señoras hasta que el Espíritu Santo me lo mostró y con gusto recibí la sanidad. Como un ser humano imperfecto, todos herimos a alguien en algún momento. Así que por favor se pronto en buscar la sanidad para que puedas vivir tu vida en plenitud.
