MY ROCK BOTTOM |  TOCAR FONDO

I hit rock bottom in my early 20s. Walking through the streets of London late one night after too many beers, I remember crying out loud, “Nothing good could ever come out of my life.” I felt like I had messed up one time too many.

1 Cor 1:27-28 (Amp) says: “God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame, and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame. And God also selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is lowborn and insignificant and branded and treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing…” 

A few days after my rock bottom, I rededicated my life the Lord, still not believing I could be any use to anyone. But God picks people that the world writes off. He chooses men and women that others think are insignificant, He selects those that others treat with contempt. 

DARK DAYS

Israel went through cycles throughout the Old Testament. They would seek God, get blessed then in their success, they would drift away. God would withhold His blessing, they would be attacked by their enemies. They would hit rock bottom, repent and the Lord would send them a deliver. 

During one of Israel’s darkest days, they cried out to God in repentance and the Bible says: “They put away the foreign gods from among them and served the Lord. And His soul could no longer endure the misery of Israel.” Judges 10:16

It pains God when you are hurting. It moves Him to the core to see you suffer. It reached the point in this story when God could no longer handle seeing His people in pain, so He chose a special man to save His precious people from the onslaught of the enemy.

GOD’S (ODD) CHOICE

The man he chose was called Jephthah. Son of a prostitute, this young man was never accepted by his half brothers. He grew up with the stigma and shame of knowing he was conceived in sin. After his dad died, Jephthah was kicked out the house by his brothers. 

The young man ran away and soon started to hang around with the wrong people. Sometimes when we have been rejected, we become desperate to belong. Probably in his desire for a surrogate family, he joined a gang who went around raiding and robbing. 

HE SEES THE HEART

Even in the midst of our messes, God does not evaluate our worth based on mistakes. God looks at your heart. When the Lord looked at Jephthah, He saw a mighty warrior who could become a leader. He saw His son – a man with a hurting heart that He could heal. 

We are too quick to write ourselves off because of our flaws or failings. However, God specializes in restoration. He loves to take someone that has nothing and give them something special. He loves to take someone who sees themselves as soiled and raise them up sanctified. 

THE JOURNEY

When I rededicated my life to the Lord, I felt like ruined goods. But God got to work! He dug deep and healed my heart piece by piece. He took me on a journey of transformation. I’m still a work in progress, but I don’t even recognize the lady He saved.

Después de unos años de estar apartada del Señor, toque fondo en mis 20s. Mientras caminaba por las calles de Londres tarde en la noche, después de tomar mucha cerveza, recuerdo llorar a gritos diciendo “nada bueno puede salir de mi.” Me sentía como que me había equivocado demasiadas  veces.

1 Cor 1:27-28 dice “sino que lo necio del mundo escogió Dios (seleccionó a propósito), para avergonzar a los sabios; y lo débil del mundo escogió Dios (seleccionó a propósito), para avergonzar a lo fuerte; y lo vil del mundo y lo menospreciado escogió Dios, y lo que no es, para deshacer lo que es,” 

Dias después de mi tocar fondo, le entregué una vez más mi vida a Cristo, pero todavía creía que no podía servir a nadie. Pero Dios escoge a personas que el mundo descarta. El escoge a hombres y mujeres que otros consideran insignificantes, el selecciona a los que otros miran con desparecio. 

DIAS OSCUROS

Israel paso por ciclos en el antiguo testamento. Ellos buscaban a Dios, recibían la bendición eran exitosos, se apartaban de Dios. Dios retenía la bendición, ellos eran atacados por sus enemigos. Ellos tocaban fondo, se arrepentían y el Señor les mandaba un salvador. 

Durante unos de los momentos más oscuros de Israel apartado del Señor, ellos clamaron en arrepentimiento y la biblia registra : “Y quitaron de entre sí los dioses ajenos, y sirvieron a Jehová; y él fue angustiado a causa de la aflicción de Israel.” Jueces 10:16

A Dios le duele cuando tu sufres. Le mueve hasta lo más profundo tu dolor. Llegamos a un punto en la historia cuando Dios ya no podía ver más el dolor en los humanos, El escogió a un hombre especial para salvar a su preciosa gente de la mano del enemigo.

ELECCIÓN (EXTRAÑA) DE DIOS

El nombre que escogió se llama Jefte. Hijo de una prostituta, este joven no fue aceptado por sus hermanos. El creció con la estigma de rechazo y vergüenza por ser concebido en pecado. Después que murió su papa, sus hermanos lo botaron de la casa por ser hijo ilegítimo.

El joven huye y rápidamente se empezó a rodear de amistades incorrectas. Algunas veces cuando nos rechazan, añoramos ser aceptados y pertenecer. Probablemente en su desespero por tener una familia sustituta, se unió a una pandilla que asaltaba y robaba.

EL VE EL CORAZÓN 

Dios no solo ve tu comportamiento. El. El no evalúa tu valor basado en tu comportamiento. El mira tu corazón. Cuando Dios miro a este joven, El vio a un guerrero valiente que seria líder de su nación. El vio a su hijo – un joven con un corazón herido que El iba a sanar. 

Somos prontos para descalificarnos por causa de las debilidades y faltas. Pero Dios es especialista en restauración. El ama tomar a alguien que no es nada y lo torna en alguien especial. El ama tomar a los que se ven sucios y los santifica. 

EL VIAJE 

Cuando me reconcilie con el Señor, me veía sucia. Pero Dios se puso a trabajar! El excavo profundo y sano mi corazón pedazo por pedazo. El me llevo en un viaje de transformación. Todavía soy una obra en construcción, pero no reconozco a la joven que el Salvo.
