Years ago, I was asked to run a new unit at a global company. Before I met the CEO, my husband prepared me: “Even if he offers you a big raise, don’t look excited. Be calm.”
When the man got onto money, he offered me more than double my existing salary. With perks, it was nearly three times what I was earning! I managed to contain myself until he was a block away, then I screamed with delight.
But that wasn’t the end of it. Just as the company was putting the offer in writing, they told me they were lowering the salary. It was a harsh drop.
The Real Reason
That weekend we had a prophet round for dinner. When I told him the story, he immediately replied, “You don’t believe you’re worth their original offer. Until you do, you won’t get it.”
I looked like a high flyer, but I did not believe I was worth that salary. I felt like a fraud and I secretly worried I would be found out for being inferior.
Proverbs 23.7 says: “As a man thinks in his heart, so he is”. The image you have of yourself affects your life. Your heart’s evaluation of your worth places a boundary around what you can achieve.
What Do You Think You’re Worth?
Maybe you relate to my story. You long for a promotion or a new door to open. It’s not just your desire, it’s God’s will that you do well. 3 John 1:2 says, “Beloved I pray that u may prosper in all things… as your soul prospers.”
However, if you doubt your value deep down, it will probably hold you back. If you feel like an imposter around successful people, it could hinder your progress.
God knows how you feel about yourself and He wants to heal the hurts that affected your view of your worth. When your soul is restored and starts to prosper, you will begin to prosper too.
From The Inside Out
I had to begin the journey of discovering my worth before I could begin to expect a package I deserved. God reached into my heart & began dismantling the lies I believed. Soon, the original offer was back on the table.
Right now, picture yourself in the place that you are praying that God will take you. See yourself promoted or raised up. Now ask yourself, “Do I feel like I am good enough to be in that place?
If your heart answer is no, ask the Lord to do a new work inside. There are some doors that will only open when you know your value. Ask God to dig deep in your heart and start a fresh work within.

Años atrás, me pidieron que corriera una nueva área para una compañía global. Antes de tener una reunión con el dueño, mi esposo me preparó: “aunque te ofrezcan un gran aumento, no luzcas emocionada. mantén la calma.“
Cuando el hombre empezó hablar del dinero, me ofreció más del doble de mi salario actual. Con beneficios, era casi tres veces más de lo que estaba ganando! Pude manejar mis emociones hasta que él ya estaba a un bloque de distancia, y entonces grité de alegría.
Pero ese no fue el final. Cuando la compañía estaba poniendo la oferta por escrito, me dijeron que iban a bajar mi salario. Eso fue una noticia inesperada.
La verdadera razón
Ese fin de semana tuvimos una profeta invitado a cenar. Cuando le conté la historia, él inmediatamente contestó, “no creíste en tu valor original con la oferta. Hasta que te lo creas, no lo vas a recibir.“
Yo lucía como una ganadora, pero yo no creía que merecía ese salario. Me sentía como un fraude y en el secreto estaba preocupada de qué ellos se dieran cuenta de mi inferioridad.
Proverbios 23:7 dice: “como el hombre piensa en su corazón, así es él“. La imagen que tienes de ti mismo afecta tu vida. La evaluación de tu corazón y tu valía te pone en lugares de limitante para lo que tú puedas alcanzar.
Que piensas que vales ?
Quizá te identifiques con mi historia. Deseas la promoción o que una puerta nueva se abra. No es tu deseo, es el deseo de Dios. 3 Juan 1:2 dice “amado yo oro que tú prosperes en todas las cosas… Así como prospera tu alma.“
Pero, si dudas de tu valía en el interior, probablemente esto te retendrá. Si tú sientes que eres un impostor alrededor de gente exitosa, puede afectar tu progreso.
Dios conoce como tú te sientes acerca de ti mismo y él quiere sanar tus heridas y lo que afecta la manera en que vez tu valía. Cuando tu alma es restaurada y empiezas a prosperar, entonces tú empiezas a prosperar también.
De adentro hacia fuera
Tuve que empezar un viaje en descubrir mi valía antes de que pudiera esperar el regalo que merecía. Dios alcanzó adentro del corazón y empezó a desmantelar las mentiras que yo creía. Pronto, la oferta original estaba de regreso en la mesa.
Ahora mismo, visualízate en el lugar que has estado orándole a Dios que te lleve. Mírate promovido y levantado. Ahora pregúntate, “me siento lo suficientemente bueno para estar en este lugar?“
Si la respuesta de tu corazón es no, pídele al señor que haga un nuevo trabajo en tu interior. Hay algunas puertas que sólo se abrirán si tú conoces tu valor. Pídele a Dios en lo profundo de tu corazón que empiece a trabajar una nueva obra dentro de ti.
